Michael J. Fox has praised the “amazing” Taylor Swift, sharing that he believes she is “going to be a really important person.”

In a new interview with People, the Back To The Future icon explained how he believes that Swift will be someone who will have a major impact in the next 50 years. “I think she’s going to be a really important person. I think she moves economies, she changes the way the world works, and that’s amazing,” the actor said.

He also noted her impact on what she has “said publicly about issues,” referring to the ‘Love Story’ singer urging her fans to take action at the forthcoming US elections causing them to drive record-breaking numbers to the Vote.org website, and her LGBTQIA+ allyship.

Elsewhere in the chat, Fox opened up about being a star in the 80s and how becoming famous back then was “harder” than it is now because you had to be tougher and have talent.

“There’s an expression I referred to when they gave me an honorary Academy Award — somebody said to me the day before, they were talking about getting this award and being famous and they said ‘You’re ‘80s famous’. I thought, ‘Wow, that’s cool.’ ‘80s famous. Right, we were different. We were tougher. We didn’t have social media, we didn’t have any of that crap. We were just famous. Left to our own resources. And it was an amazing time,” he told the outlet.

He continued: “We used to bust our ass, our acting muscles and watch other actors and sit around with other actors and talk about acting and talk about it. And now you’ve got people who just go like, ‘Who’s your sweater? What’s your sweater you’re wearing? And what’s that dance step?’ And you’re the most famous person in the world.”

In other news, Hole frontwoman Courtney Love recently slammed Taylor Swift, saying that she is “not important” and “not interesting as an artist”.

Speaking to The Standard in an interview recently, love shared “Taylor is not important. She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist.”

Lush’s Emma Anderson shares exhilarating new ‘Inter Light’ remix

Admin
Lush co-founder Emma Anderson has shared a new remix of her 2023 song ‘Inter Light’ – you can listen to it below.

The original version of the track appears on Anderson’s acclaimed debut solo album, ‘Pearlies’, which was released last October.

Now, Brighton-based duo Memorials – aka Matthew Simms and Verity Susman – have brought some “’60s spy movie vibes” to ‘Inter Light’ by adding “fuzzed out guitars, drums and distorted tape noise for a much more exhilarating listen”.

Speaking about the reimagining, Anderson explained: “It kind of slims down the structure but increases the dynamics of the track overall which I love.

“There are real drums and more overdriven guitars. Also, the original fades but Matthew and Verity have put an ending on it which is almost my favourite part of the track. It really is a great rework.”

‘Inter Light (Memorials Mix)’ is the first entry in a series of rearranged versions of songs from last year’s ‘Pearlies’. The original 10-track album was originally produced and mixed by James Chapman (aka Maps), and features Suede‘s Richard Oakes on guitar on several songs.

Watch an official lyric visualiser for the remix, created by Stuart Jones, above. Alternatively, you can listen via your desired streaming platform here.

Lush broke up for the second time back in 2016 after returning for their first run of shows in two decades earlier that year. They also released an EP, ‘Blind Spot’, containing their first music since 1996.

In a joint statement at the time, the group wrote: “It’s been wonderful to revisit our old music and to create new material. However, it is now time for us to return to our families and homes, and bring our time together as a band to a close.”

Then, in 2018, Lush’s Miki Berenyi formed a new supergroup called Piroshka with Elastica’s Justin Welch, Moose’s KJ McKillop and Modern English’s Michael Conroy. Their debut album, ‘Brickbat’, was released in early 2019 via Bella Union.

Spiritualized announce reissue of ‘Songs In A&E’

Admin
Spiritualized have announced a new reissue of their country-influenced 2008 studio album ‘Songs In A&E’, with striking new artwork.

* READ MORE: Spiritualized – ‘Everything Was Beautiful’ review: Jason Pierce returns with a sonic feast

The record has been remastered for vinyl and features totally revamped packaging. It will be available via Fat Possum Records on June 21 and you can pre-order it here.

Check out the new cover photo and videos for the album’s tracks ‘Soul On Fire’ and ‘You Lie You Cheat’ below:

Frontman Jason Pierce was in the process of writing the material on ‘Songs In A&E’ when he was admitted to the Royal London Infirmary with double pneumonia. The new cover photograph shows him lying in his hospital bed, at a time when it was believed his life was under threat.

Reflecting on returning to the studio to make the album after his recovery, Pierce has noted: “I remember saying at the time that I felt like people who have these kinds of experiences become more charitable. They change or whatever. But I think I came back partly to the same disappointing person I was before. And sometimes I still feel the same. But a lot of people worked really hard to get me out of there and I also realised just how lucky I was.”

It is the latest re-release from the band, as part of the series The Spaceman Reissue Program: Curated by J. Spaceman, following on from ‘Lazer Guided Melodies’, ‘Pure Phase’, ‘Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space’ and ‘Let It Come Down’, all released in 2021. 2004’s ‘Amazing Grace’ received the re-release treatment earlier this year.

In January, the band were announced for this year’s FOCUS Wales, the annual music festival and conference held in Wrexham, alongside The Mysterines and Benefits.

This year’s event will be the 14th edition of the festival, and it will take place from May 9 to 11, and over 70 live acts have now been confirmed to appear. Tickets are available here.

Spiritualized will also play as part of the Brighton Festival on May 18.

The group’s most recent album of new material was ‘Everything Was Beautiful’ in 2022, their ninth studio record. In a four-star review, NME wrote: “Etched from a series of early demos in 2014, Pierce’s latest symphonic offering finds the Spiritualized frontman experimenting with 16 different instruments alongside 30 musicians, including his daughter Poppy, long-time collaborator John Coxon, string, brass sections and choirs. The result is a densely orchestrated record that is as solid as it is sprawling.”
