In his final post, King wrote that he had clicked on a user’s profile in order to limit their access to his account when he came across a video that left him “shaking”. He also criticised owner Elon Musk.
“Someone who follows me said something fucked up so I checked on their profile before potentially blocking them,” he added.
“First thing I see is an uncensored compilation video of people getting shot dead in America. I’m shaking. If this is what @elonmusk thinks is free speech then he’s a lunatic.”

He went on to direct his followers to his other social media accounts including Instagram and Threads before adding: “I’m gone. You know how and where to follow me if you’re a decent human. It’s in my bio. Laters. Peace and Love as always. MK.”
Elton John, Stephen Fry, Whoopi Goldberg and Gigi Hadid and more recently John Cleese are among a host of celebrities that have quit the social media platform since Musk took over in 2022.
Last month, Wednesday star Jenna Ortega revealed that she left the platform after seeing AI-generated sexually explicit images of herself as a teenager.
Elsewhere, King recently said he wants Peep Show to return for a Christmas special this year after a demand from fans.
It comes after a meme did the rounds over the weekend that showed a Peep Show cast reunion alongside an image of Liam and Noel Gallagher, following news of the brother’s reunion and 2025 live tour. “The reunion we wanted,” the meme was titled.
After garnering more than 1.5 million likes, Peep Show actor King shared it and tagged the show’s creators Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong, plus the show’s stars David Mitchell and Robert Webb asking if they were “all over this”.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary last year, Peep Show documented the increasingly tragic lives of bank manager Mark Corrigan (played by Mitchell) and his layabout flatmate/ occasional musician Jeremy Usborne (played by Webb). The show also featured the characters’ friends and partners, including the drug addict Super Hans (played by King) and Olivia Colman as Sophie.
Last year, Peep Show co-writer Sam Bain revealed that they received offers to turn the hit Channel 4 sitcom into a play.
